Ocean Youth’s award winning podcast returns for a second series!

3-7th February is Children’s Mental Health Week – and this year it sees the release of a second series of Ocean Youth’s award winning ‘300 Seconds’ mental health podcasts.

Across the Bay and beyond, young people have tuned in to this groundbreaking series that builds mental health resilience at scale for young people. ‘300 Seconds’ brings together real stories, experiences, and signposts support services in six five-minute-long (300 second) episodes. The podcasts provide space for open conversations and destigmatises mental health issues in a unique and engaging way.

‘300 Seconds’ Series 2 has been researched, voiced and presented entirely by young people across Torbay!

“Winning an ARIA award put Torbay’s talented and committed young people on the national map. This second series comes hot on the heels of this success. I am so proud of what they achieved especially as many of them are facing significant disadvantage. What this series shows is how enabling young people to set their own agenda and be given the creative freedom and skills to express themselves can lead to success in many different ways.”
— Kate, Director, Sound Communities

300 Seconds’ Series 1 and 2 are available on Spotify, Amazon Music and via the Ocean Youth free App (available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store)

Torbay’s Ocean Youth Radio Presenter sings live to the nation for Children In Need

This week, we’re thrilled to celebrate that one of our talented presenters, Dan Boosey, will be taking part in the BBC Children in Need Choir!

Dan will be performing the iconic Take That anthem ‘Never Forget’ live in Manchester during the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal Show. It’s an incredible opportunity, and we couldn’t be prouder of Dan representing Ocean Youth and the young voices of Torbay.

Dan says, “I’ve been presenting Ocean Youth Radio shows for nine months now. On the first day I planned a radio show, which my dad couldn’t believe! It’s a great place to learn media skills and work with other young people. Right from the start I loved it because all the staff are fun to hang around with and they’re basically friends as well”

This week Dan has been interviewed by and appeared on BBC Spotlight, sharing his Story and the opportunities Children In Need have supported through their funding of Ocean Youth.
